I have begun to incorporate gold vermeil into my jewellery making and am very much enjoying using this gorgeous colour in my designs. I also love the combination of silver and gold, a cool tone against a warm tone looks stunning!
Vermeil (pronounced ver-May), is a technique which began in the mid-eighteenth century by some French goldsmiths.
It is silver which has been coated in a thick layer of 14k - 24k gold and so still consists of the precious metal silver, but also with another precious metal, gold.
